Freedom for Whose Children?

When President Bush said: "There's a price for freedom," I hope he didn't mean that what happened to the Beslan schoolchildren was part of the cost. As a result of the president's actions in Iraq and Afghanistan, the terrorists are now going to despicable lengths to get their message across. The religious fanatics want their freedom, too. Are these the acts of people who demand their rights, especially the right of their religion? The fundamentalist Islamists, as they are so politely called, are growing in rage and desperation. Their acts are spreading, not shrinking.

When Al Queda's leaders said that, if you kill an American, you'll be a martyr and go directly to heaven, they meant what they said. Terrorism has become more of a religious war than most Christians would like to admit, especially President Bush. His calls for retribution and justice are claiming thousands of lives and he is churning up religious hostilities in the most volatile area of the world. To the Moslems, Americans are crusaders who want to force our ways and religious beliefs upon them. Mr. Bush, you can't force freedom upon anyone.

The President's deliberate dare to the terrorists and his warmongering administration have stimulated more desperate actions. When and where will our children be safe? My suggestion: Get the religion out of politics before it's too late!
