Lady Liberty's LegacyWhat happened to the close friendship between the liberty-loving countries of France and America, once called the "Two Sisters"? When I saw this photo of the Statue of Liberty being sculpted in Paris, it made me go back in time to research the spiritual implications of such an enormously generous gift. Although, at the physical level, the presentation of the Statue was supposed to commemorate the close affiliations between the two nations upon the centennial celebration of America's independence from Britain, now it is apparent that Lady Liberty has been part of a jealous spiritual plot to curse our nations. As I tell everyone, I do not accept gift-giving celebrations, such as birthdays, anniversaries or holidays. This is because when someone gives a gift to someone else, within that gift is always an imbedded spiritual curse. It is unfortunate that the spirits on this planet are always in destructive mode, and a gift is an ideal carrier for spiritual malice. In the late 1800's, as the French prepared to revolt against their oppressive government, they looked to the Americans for their model of a free republic. The presentation of Lady Liberty to the United States was a world event that signified the admiration of our free society. However, through the greed and jealousy of many wealthy French and American families, curses were exchanged between the two nations. At the time, President Cleveland was fighting against pollitical corruption and had earned a reputation for honesty and fairness. |

| At the time of the Statue's creation, as today, there were two distinct classes: the rich and the poor, or the landlord and the slave. The wealthy population of both France and the United States, contributed little or nothing to the statue's costs. In France, the sculptor and others organized lotteries to pay the cost of engineering, materials, labor and shipping of this great monument, while in America, no one wanted to contribute to the costs of the foundation at its location in New York Harbor, not even the United States government. It was only through an entrepreneurial effort that the general public, including schoolchildren, raised enough funds to give Lady Liberty her home.
While the wealthiest families on both sides of the ocean held back from financial participation in the completion of this gift, they were too well aware of the consequences of providing the freedom that Lady Liberty represents. With freedom comes the loss of power to the upper class and the creation of democratic societies where all voices are heard. Throughout history a handful of rich created the governments and religious institutions that controlled the masses. Now, the situation is similar, only the masses are given money which eventually goes back into the pockets of the powerful. Lady Liberty is our beacon, yet she has been cursed by all those who envy freedom and what it means to each one of us. Today, as the President keeps repeating that the terrorists "hate us for our freedom," he is inviting spiritual malice and reinforcing the curse. Our liberty is not what fuels the hatred of the terrorists, but is the result of the curses imbedded in the Statue of Liberty. The meaning of freedom is exploited and distorted by all who use freedom to support their physical and spiritual ambitions. Instead of uniting the "Two Sisters," the present situation in Iraq has activated the spirits that have caused the current hatred between the French and the Americans. Spiritual freedom is the only way for the masses to realize true liberty. September 26, 2004 |
